Preliminary talks underway for future LSU-Penn State game

Les Miles AP

LSU has already confirmed a future two-game, neutral-site series against Wisconsin.  Now, it appears, the SEC school is looking to add another Big Ten program to its future schedule.

After the game was “accidentally” posted on the Big Ten Network’s website Wednesday, Penn State officials confirmed that they have held discussions with LSU regarding a future game.  LSU officials, however, cautioned that the talks “are very early in the process.”

The talks that have occurred have centered around the possibility of a game being played in 2020.  The Tigers’ series with Wisconsin is scheduled for 2014 at Houston’s Reliant Stadium and 2016 at Lambeau Field.

An LSU-Penn State game — there’s no public talk as of yet of a two-game set — would also be a neutral-site matchup.  Just where the game would occur is something that neither school has divulged.

As much as I hate LSU, I respect them for scheduling a non-cupcake OOC opponent just about every year.

@imacdane – You mean like this year when they scheduled UAB…Furman and Kent State?

@timh1955 – People like you are so dense. This year they played TCU in the opening game. While it ended up looking like an easy game, TCU has been a strong team over the past several years. They played Oregon, Washington (x2), West Virginia (x2) and UNC. They also play Alabama and Florida every year along with the now “mighty” Texas A&M. Who cares that they play 3 cupcakes when other teams like that are on the schedule?

    Hmmm, still won’t do a home-and-home.

@numbr4stuna – So I’m sense because I stated the obvious??? The only currently ranked teams LSU has played is Florida and UGA and you lost to UGA! And we are talking about 2013….not teams you played in the past. The only good team you play this year is Alabama and you’ve lost the last two to them.

@timh1955, and who does your team play???? LSU played / will play a ranked TCU team to open the season. Top 10 games against Georgia, Alabama and Texas A&M and top 25 ranked game against Florida.

It is peculiar that LSU has played 19 games against the top teams of the East division of the SEC, during the same time Alabama has played only 9 games against the top teams of the East division of the SEC. SEC university presidents said they would look at this matter closely in their next meeting to see how equity/fairness could be established. I would suggest that over the next 10 years or so that Alabama play 19 games against the top teams of the East division while LSU plays only 9. That would bring equity and fairness. We may have to wait a century more to see that happen.

LSU has scheduled Oklahoma, home and home, Wisconsin, Houston and Green Bay, Washington home and home, West Virginia home and home, TCU in their backyard. LSU has tried to schedule and is continuing to try to schedule USC, Stanford, and other teams. The proposed 9 game SEC schedule has put some limitations on what can be scheduled.

timh, I see you still have on your dunce hat. Won’t you ever learn that you don’t Jack P Doodle when it comes to LSU? I haven’t a clue as to who you support but surely they can’t be as impressive as what members of the SEC are. Good Gawd, and besides you still haven’t gotten much of a life yet either because you’re still bitchin and moanin and groanin bout how bad LSU is when they’re at the top of the heap. If you still need info bout LSU do the research fore you open your mouth and spout off.

suprmous – I bet you wish you hadn’t posted that comment after the results of todays game against unranked Ole Miss. I guess LSU isn’t at the top of the heap now are they???
