Surgery likely costs Beavers starting TE for 1-2 weeks

Oregon State Beavers against the Utah Utes AP

Oregon State’s explosive passing attack has suffered the short-term loss of one of its most reliable weapons, head coach Mike Riley said Wednesday.

Starting tight end Connor Hamlett will likely undergo arthroscopic knee surgery at some point in the near future, Riley said, and will be sidelined for 1-2 weeks.  Hamlett will definitely miss this Saturday’s game against Cal.

When it comes to the Oct. 26 game against Stanford and the Nov. 1 game against USC?

“I think [the] Stanford [game] is a wish-list thing, but, of course I can’t say for certain, but I feel really good about USC,” the coach said.

Hamlett is fourth on the team in receptions (25) and fifth in receiving yards (198).  His four receiving touchdowns are second only to Brandin Cooks‘ 11.
