Northwestern’s hopes of ending a two-game losing streak has taken a double injury punch to the gut.
Running back Venric Mark (pictured), the school tweeted this morning, has been ruled out of today’s game against Minnesota. Quarterback Kain Colter is dressed for the game but will only be available on an emergency basis.
Both players suffered ankle injuries in the loss to Wisconsin last Saturday.
After sitting out the opener, Mark missed the next three games due to a hamstring injury. He’s carried the ball just 31 times in three games.
Colter splits time at quarterback with Trevor Siemian, who will get the start against the Gophers.
