Case McCoy explains why TCU is favored vs. Texas

Despite coming off a statement win over Oklahoma Oct. 12 and facing a 3-4 TCU squad, Texas opened the week as a slight underdog for their Saturday matchup against the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth.

Casey Pachall’s status remains a mystery, and TCU lost 24-10 to Oklahoma State last weekend. And yet, Vegas still likes TCU.

It’s probably due to the TCU home field advantage, but Texas quarterback Case McCoy offered an alternative explanation:

Case McCoy on why TCU is favorite vs. Texas: “Probably because I’m the quarterback, right?”

Zing.

David Ash won’t play for Texas, meaning McCoy -- who’s completed 61 percent of his passes for 764 yards with four touchdowns and one interception -- remains Texas’ guy at quarterback. He completed 13 of 21 passes for 190 yards with two touchdowns and a pick against Oklahoma.

That’s not terrible, but McCoy is who he is. He drove that home with another self-deprecating quote on Monday:

Case McCoy: “I’m not gonna impress you on paper at all...if I could grow a couple inches, I would.”

If McCoy is injured, Texas will go with freshman Tyrone Swoopes. But given how good these quotes are, let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
