Gundy not publicly tipping QB hand

If you have a hankering to know who will be under center for Oklahoma State when they take on Iowa State this weekend, you’ll have to wait a few more days.

After benching an ineffective J.W. Walsh -- he had thrown two interceptions -- in favor of Clint Chelf in Saturday’s win over TCU, head coach Mike Gundy was of course asked about the Cowboys’ starting quarterback for the Cyclones games. As was the case prior to the start of the 2013 season, Gundy declined to go public with a name.

We wouldn’t publicly name one,” Gundy said according to Gina Mizell of the Daily Oklahoman. “We’ll let those guys practice and then we’ll see how it goes this week and then decide how we want to approach Iowa State.”

Gundy added that the two quarterbacks will continue to split reps in practice as they have all season.

Chelf started the season opener but was yanked after just two series. Walsh has started the last five games, although his play has been suspect throughout; the sophomore is 68th nationally and fifth among Big 12 quarterbacks in passing efficiency.
