Oregon DC Nick Aliotti reprimanded and fined by Pac-12

Oregon defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti has been reprimanded and fined $5,000 by the Pac-12 Conference for public comments he made about the league’s officials and Washington State, commissioner Larry Scott announced on Monday.

Aliotti apologized on Sunday after calling WSU ‘low class’ for attempting 89 passes against the Ducks in Oregon’s 62-38 victory. Aliotti also made derogatory public comments about Pac-12 officials before and after the game.

“The Pac-12 has specific rules that prohibit our coaches from making public comments about officiating, and this prohibition specifically includes comments that create doubts about the credibility of the Conference’s officiating program,” stated Scott. “His comments also showed a lack of support for the Pac-12‘s policies on Sportsmanship and Standards of Conduct, which call for our coaches to treat opponents with respect.”

Oregon’s defense under Aliotti is currently ranked 12th nationally in points allowed per game (17.3) and 42nd in yards allowed per game (370.1).
