Despite kidney-area issue, UCLA’s Eric Kendricks is ‘probable’

What was thought to be a kidney injury knocked Eric Kendricks out of UCLA’s loss to Stanford Saturday.

The issue, though, isn’t expected to do the same to the standout linebacker for the Bruins’ upcoming game.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News Kendricks has bruising to either his kidney or the surrounding tissue. Despite the scary-sounding nature of the injury, head coach Jim Mora stated that the linebacker is “probable” for UCLA’s key Pac-12 matchup with Oregon Saturday.

Mora, for his part, seems friggin’ excited over that development, too.

“Eric Kendricks, it’s going to take a lot to keep that guy down,” Mora said. “He’s a friggin’ great player. He’s a tremendous competitor, heck of a leader. He’s got the spirit that you love on your team.”

More is rightfully excited about having Kendricks available against an offense like the Ducks as the redshirt junior is second in the Pac-12 in tackles per games and teams with Anthony Barr to form one of the most productive linebacking duos in the country.
