LSU freshman DB indefinitely suspended after second arrest

Jeryl Brazil

Les Miles took plenty of heat for allowing the team to vote on the status of his top running back, Jeremy Hill, following a legal issue in the offseason. Miles did not feel a need for a team vote to make the decision this time.

Jeryl Brazil, a freshman defensive back, was arrested for the second time in two months last weekend. Brazil was arrested for simple battery and simple criminal damage according to a report by The Daily Reveille. This second arrest led to an indefinite suspension, Miles announced Wednesday night according to the report.

According to information from the report, police say Brazil was upset at a campus apartment and allegedly grabbed a woman by the neck and pushed her on to a sofa and punched a hole in a wall. In September Brazil was cited for fighting at the dining hall. Upon hearing news of this second incident, Brazil was suspended by Miles and the football program.

LSU will now allow the legal system to play out for Brazil before rushing to any judgements on their own. If Brazil is cleared of any legal infractions, he should be reinstated rather quickly with the football team, but these separate incidents should raise some caution flags on his future at LSU.

So will the team have a vote to have him reinstated tomorrow or next week?

They’ll do their civic duty and rock the vote on Tuesday, 5 November.
