Still healing from a hamstring suffered while trying to track down Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel on the run, Ole Miss super freshman Robert Nkemdiche will sit out at least one more week.
Nkemdiche sat out against LSU last weekend — Ole Miss upset the Tigers with a last-second field goal — and he could be sitting out the next few weeks as well. Nkemdiche, one of the prized recruits in the Ole Miss recruiting class of 2013, has 15 tackles in six games. That includes 11 solo tackles for the monster freshman.
Nkemdiche is not the only defensive end out of action this weekend for Ole Miss either. Carlos Thompson has also been ruled out when the Rebels host the Vandals. Nkemdiche had been starting for Ole Miss and Thompson had been listed behind him on the depth chart. Thompson has appeared in five games and has seven total tackles.
Ole Miss has already lost one defensive end for the season of course. C.J. Johnson broke his leg a couple of weeks ago as well. The good news for Ole Miss is they should be able to get by this weekend no matter what the depth at defensive line looks like against Idaho. Idaho is ranked 94th in the nation in rushing, 73rd in passing and 116th in scoring. Ole Miss should be just fine this weekend before jumping back in to SEC play.
