Auburn QB Nick Marshall knocked out of FAU game

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall left the Tigers’ game with Florida Atlantic due to an apparent shoulder injury to his throwing arm. The junior went to the locker room in the second quarter and was replaced by freshman Jeremy Johnson.

There’s official word yet on the seriousness of the injury, but the Auburn radio announcer said that Marshall ‘should be okay.’

Before getting hurt, Marshall had rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown on six carries and completed his only pass attempt for 10 yards.

Johnson did fine in his stead and was four of seven passing for 126 yards and two touchdowns as the half wound down. Johnson also filled in for Marshall against Western Carolina two weeks ago and threw four touchdown passes.

So while it’s a good thing that Johnson is getting experience, Auburn definitely will need Marshall back for the stretch run of the season that includes big games against Georgia and Alabama.
