UCLA DL Ellis McCarthy banged up, likely to play against Colorado

Jim Mora AP

UCLA defensive lineman Ellis McCarthy injured his knee in the Bruins’ 42-14 loss to Oregon on Saturday, but he’s likely to play next weekend against Colorado, head coach Jim Mora Jr., said on Sunday.

The 6-foot-4, 330-pound end has been banged up all year. He suffered a concussion against Utah three weeks ago and missed the California game as a result.

The sophomore has 15 tackles and one tackle for loss on year. If for some reason he is unable to play against the Buffaloes, he’d probably be replaced by freshman Eddie Vanderdoes.
