Connor Shaw returns to practice for Gamecocks

South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw was one of the top performers last weekend, leading the Gamecocks back from a 17-0 deficit to hand Missouri their first loss of the year in thrilling fashion. This week Shaw should be back under center when South Carolina takes on Mississippi State this weekend despite missing some practice time this week.

Shaw missed practices on Monday and Tuesday while battling a virus, but returned to practice on Wednesday. He did not take many snaps but reportedly was looking healthier according to a report by GoGamecocks.com. South Carolina expects Shaw to be ready this weekend against the Bulldogs and quarterback coach G.A. Mangus said Shaw took more reps with the first team than he expected.

We saw just how valuable Shaw is to South Carolina’s offense last week against Missouri. Shaw entered the game with a struggling offense unable to find any luck against the previously undefeated Tigers, but led the Gamecocks to force overtime in the fourth quarter and pick up the win in overtime.

If Shaw is available from the start against Mississippi State, and he is healthy, then South Carolina should feel comfortable with their offense.
