A rather significant and painful-sounding injury could cost Iowa State one of its most productive players on the defensive side of the ball.
Luke Knott, the younger brother of former Cyclone standout Jake Knott, has been dealing with injuries to both his hip and groin the past couple of weeks. It knocked the redshirt freshman out of last Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma State, and could do the same for the foreseeable future.
Head coach Paul Rhoads confirmed Tuesday night that the linebacker “needs surgery,” but it’s just “a matter of when we do it.” Just when a final decision on a medical procedure will be made was left unclear.
Knott is currently third on the team in tackles with 45.
