Mariota, Winston pulling away as Heisman betting favorites

Unless you’re been living under a rock for the past month or so, you’re fully aware of the fact that Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, and now Florida State’s Jameis Winston, have begun to pull away in the court of public opinion when it comes to the chase for the 2013 Heisman Trophy.

Earlier this week, Bovada.lv showed just how much the two quarterbacks have separated themselves from the pack.

Mariota is a very slight favorite at 1/1 -- he was 10/11 last week -- with Winston coming in just behind at 11/10. The next closest in the odds? Texas A&M quarterback and reigning Heisman winner Johnny Manziel at 9/1, who was at 15/2 a week ago.

Winston has seen a meteoric rise this month, going from 12/1 behind six players at the beginning of October to his current odds behind just Mariota as the calendar gets set to flip to November. In the preseason, the redshirt freshman was at 35/1.

The only other players listed on Bovada‘s current set of Heisman odds are two more quarterbacks: Alabama’s AJ McCarron (12/1) and Baylor’s Bryce Petty (20/1).
