Report: Drugs not only reason for Carl Pelini resigning

Via CBS Sports’ Jeremy Fowler, drug use wasn’t the only reason why Carl Pelini resigned from his post Wednesday.

FAU athletic director Pat Chun told Fowler there were reports of other university violations committed by Pelini, although the nature of those violations were not revealed. Pelini went 5-15 with FAU, and Chun told CBS Sports he would’ve hoped to handle things the same if his coach went 20-0.

In the meantime, offensive coordinator Brian Wright will step in as FAU’s interim head coach. A few details from his Thursday press conference, via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Dieter Kurtenbach:

Wright says his thoughts are with Pelini & Rekstis. Notes this is a dream of his, “didn’t think it’d be under these circumstances though.”

“There’s a lot of young people hurt... A lot of tears... It happened so fast.” FAU IHC Brian Wright.

And then there’s this oddly-timed recruiting video that hit YouTube last night -- “as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Needless to say, it’s been a weird week in Boca Raton.
