Mom of Miss. St. QB Dak Prescott loses fight with cancer

Dak Prescott

The mother of Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott has lost her lengthy battle with cancer, the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reported.

Peggy Prescott, the paper stated, died Sunday morning at the age of 52.  In addition to Dak, her youngest child, Peggy Prescott is survived by sons Tad and Jace.

Peggy Prescott had been undergoing chemotherapy in an attempt to stave off the ravages of colon cancer.  Monday morning, head coach Dan Mullen released a statement through the university.

“The Mississippi State football family is completely saddened by the passing of Dak Prescott’s mom, Peggy,” Mullen said. “They shared an extraordinary mother-son relationship. We know Dak will carry on her great strength and kindness. Please pray for Dak and his family as they go through this difficult time. We also kindly ask that you please respect their privacy.”

While it’s inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, it’s unclear what Prescott’s availability will be for the Bulldogs’ game this Saturday on the road against Texas A&M.  Prescott has started six of eight games this season, including the last two.

Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Prescott and his brothers on their loss.

    Sucks…

A nice reminder about how important it is to spend time with family and loved ones when they are still here.

    RIP

We all get so riled up about football, things like this really put it in perspective how it’s just a game. Condolences to the family.

. I played Highschool football with Jace. The Prescott family was a very tight nit family and their mother attended EVERY game, and was very supportive of all of her children. I never got the opportunity to meet their mother, but the way all of her boys talked about her, I knew she had to be wonderful. My thoughts and prayers go to the Prescotts in this difficult time .
