Cal player hurt in locker-room fight still feels ‘like crap’

The physical effects of a locker-room incident that sent a Cal football player to a local hospital for treatment late last week are still lingering, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported Tuesday evening.

Fabiano Hale, who was involved in a locker-room fight with an unnamed teammate Friday following a workout, told the Sentinel that he suffered a significant concussion and needed stitches in his ear as a result of the incident.

“I have a headache still,” the walk-on running back said. “I feel like crap. ...

“I don’t know what my emotions are. I’m focusing on getting better and getting my head right so I can focus on school.”

Hale, who like school officials have declined to name the other player involved, said he spoke with coaches Tuesday and intends to return to the team next Monday.

University police are investigating the incident, although they refuse to say whether any charges stemming from the in-house fighting will arise.
