Cal player hurt in locker-room fight still feels ‘like crap’

Sonny Dykes AP

The physical effects of a locker-room incident that sent a Cal football player to a local hospital for treatment late last week are still lingering, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported Tuesday evening.

Fabiano Hale, who was involved in a locker-room fight with an unnamed teammate Friday following a workout, told the Sentinel that he suffered a significant concussion and needed stitches in his ear as a result of the incident.

“I have a headache still,” the walk-on running back said. “I feel like crap. …

“I don’t know what my emotions are. I’m focusing on getting better and getting my head right so I can focus on school.”

Hale, who like school officials have declined to name the other player involved, said he spoke with coaches Tuesday and intends to return to the team next Monday.

University police are investigating the incident, although they refuse to say whether any charges stemming from the in-house fighting will arise.

I read this as I listen to Mike Golic tell the world that players need to stand up for themselves in the locker room. The fight wont last long because other players will break it up. Sound logic there. I am sure Hale agrees.

    Only in the PAC 12

Why are players involved in a fight suspended unless it takes place on the field or in a locker room? It seems to me that fights involving teammates are more detrimental to the team than a bar room brawl.

Maybe the guy was being a bully and he got his clock cleaned!

The reporting of this has really been quite poor, as has the university’s handling of it. The reports keep calling it a fight, but it’s being investigated as a potential assault. But the other player involved remains unnamed. They should either both be known or both kept secret. Certainly, the victim shouldn’t be the only one known.

Pretty sure all you guys that thumbed down @normtide’s post are the same that posted “SEC SEC SEC” in the article about the LSU player charged with battery.

    Just sayin….

Ok let the thumbs down commence

I don’t worry about thumbs. If they think I’m wrong, let them post facts. If they think I’m right, but don’t like the truth, they give you a thumbs down. On Nov 6, 2013 4:14 PM, “CollegeFootballTalk” wrote:
