Terps’ leading tackler sidelined with head injury

Before there were M*A*S*H units setting up camp in Florida and Georgia this year, there was Maryland, well, the past two seasons.

Hit with an unreal spate of injuries since Randy Edsall took over as head coach in 2011, especially this year and last, the Terps have once again seen a top player sidelined with an injury. This time around it’s starting linebacker Cole Farrand, who is listed as out on the official injury report for the Syracuse game with a head injury.

Farrand’s absence comes despite the fact that the Terps were on a bye this past weekend and gave the junior extra time to recover.

In eight games this season, Farrand has totaled 67 tackles. That’s top s on the team and fifth in the ACC on a per-game basis.

This season, Maryland has lost its top two wide receivers to season-ending injuries while the linebacking corp has seen three starters go down for varying lengths of time, from a game to a month to the remainder of the season. Last season, a whopping four starting quarterbacks suffered season-ending injuries.
