Notre Dame’s Tuitt ejected for targetting

Stephon Tuitt AP

Notre Dame’s top defensive player was ejected for targeting in Notre Dame’s road game at Pittsburgh. A video review of the personal foul penalty upheld the ejection of defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt, who was flagged for a hit on Pittsburgh quarterback Tom Savage. Tuitt’s penalty was for leading with the helmet, but as college football goes there will be plenty of reaction to one of college football’s most controversial rule changes.

A scrambling QB that lowers his shoulder to brace for a tackle, isn’t a defenseless player.

It doesn’t matter what the opposing player does, you cannot lead with the crown of the helmet.

That was a terrible call. There was no intent there and how are you suppose to stop after the QB lowers his head. Tuitt would have hit him in the chest if he didn’t dip his head. Most of the hit was delivered with his shoulder.

Horse bleep! If that were a RB, no flag gets thrown & it’s viewed as a great play.

Notre Dumb should be ejected for be a bunch of overhyped clown who play next to no one & work up a fake “decent looking” W/L record.

It’s a f’ing joke, but people are stupid & buy the hype. They’ve won 2 bowl games since 1994…one of which was against Hawaii.

I see we got a “races” on our hands. . . I don’t really now where your fanily comes from nor do I give 2 shits, but do us all a favor and go back where you came from loser. It’s races to make it funny.

Any real football fan that saw the play will know that it was a joke of a call and di even have the refs be able to disqualify a player on a judgement call is an even bigger joke.

You hit the nail on the head: ND had problems with Navy and Air Force and should have lost one of those games. Their 6 wins include: Temple, Purdue, Air Force, and Navy. To their credit, they did beat Michigan St…..but Mich St ALWAYS loses to ND because they have a mental issue defeating them. Great defense but their offense SUCKS and I’m being generous when I say that. Net/net, ND schedule is built to generate the greates Return On Investment by landing in a BCS game based on W and L’s. They are a “FAKE, PHONY, FRAUD” of a program.
