Georgia’s roster continues to resemble a MASH unit.
This time, it’s tight end Jay Rome who is expected miss a game. The sophomore started in place of the injured Arthur Lynch against Appalachian State this past weekend, but a right foot injury suffered in the game will probably keep him out of this coming Saturday’s matchup at No. 7 Auburn, Bulldogs coach Mark Richt said on Monday.
Rome acquitted himself well, catching three passes for 24 yards. He has nine catches for 99 yards on the season.
Richt did say that there’s a chance Lynch, who has bruised ribs, will return against Auburn. Lynch has 15 catches for 243 yards and two touchdowns so far this year. If neither Rome nor Lynch can go against Auburn, Georgia will likely start senior Hugh Williams, who has not caught a ball in his career.
