Toledo runs over Buffalo in MAC showdown

Tailback Kareem Hunt rushed for 186 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries as Toledo snapped Buffalo’s seven-game win streak with a 51-41 victory on Monday night in Toledo.

The Rockets (7-3) raced out to a 38-0 lead and didn’t allow a score from the Bulls (7-3) until early in the third quarter.

Hunt was the highlight of an unstoppable Rockets ground game that piled up 320 yards against the Buffalo. Meanwhile quarterback Terrance Owens passed for 228 yards and two scores.

Bulls quarterback Joe Licata led a valiant second-half effort, throwing for 501 yards and four touchdowns as Buffalo at one point closed to within 48-35 before ending the night with 41 second-half points.

The game saw a combined 1,147 yards of total offense.

It’s the first MAC loss of the season for Buffalo, which falls to 5-1 in the league’s East Division. Toledo, winner of five-straight, improved to 5-1.
