Foot injury leaves Nevada’s Fajardo questionable

A knee injury cost Nevada its starting quarterback for the better part of three games earlier this year. Another injury a little further south may now cost the Wolf Pack the same player again. Or it may not. One of the two.

Cody Fajardo suffered a foot injury very late in the loss to Colorado State Saturday. The injury was enough to keep the quarterback sidelined for practice Tuesday, although it’s not serious enough to rule him out of this Saturday’s San Jose State.

Cody is limited right now,” head coach Brian Polian said. “I don’t anticipate it being a major issue, but I’m not going to tell you as of now he will absolutely play in the game. I don’t know that yet.”

The good news is that Fajardo returned to practice Wednesday, albeit on a limited basis.

Fajardo missed two full games and a good chunk of another because of the knee injury he suffered in September. Fajardo’s backup to start the season, Devin Combs, tore an ACL that same month and is lost for the season.

If Fajardo is unable to go against SJSU, redshirt freshman Tyler Stewart would again get the call. Stewart’s backup would be true freshman Dante Mayes.
