One Nebraska football apparently celebrated the Cornhuskers’ big win over Michigan Saturday a little bit too much. Allegedly.
Just a few hours after the ‘Huskers had returned from Ann Arbor, reserve tight end Trey Foster was pulled over by the Nebraska State Patrol for speeding. The NSP officer smelled alcohol on Foster’s person, and the redshirt freshman was subsequently cited for driving under the influence and minor in possession of alcohol. He was given warning for the speeding violation that led to the initial stop.
Foster was placed in detox before being released.
The football program is aware of the incident, with head coach Bo Pelini saying in a statement that "[w]e have met with Trey and the issue has been handled internally.” What if any punishment Foster could be facing was not divulged.
Foster, who is listed as the No. 4 TE on the depth chart heading into this weekend’s Michigan State game, has played in six games this season, including the win over the Wolverines. He has one reception for nine yards on the year.
