The revelation that Jameis Winston is under investigation for allegations of sexual battery has not dampened Heisman voters’ enthusiasm for the Florida State freshman quarterback.

On Monday, Winston once again took the top spot in the latest USA Today Heisman Poll which surveys 27 Heisman voters from throughout the Gannett News Service every week.

Winston captured 19 first place votes and totaled 72 points to finish comfortably ahead of Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M (7 first-place votes, 49 points) and Marcus Mariota (1 first-place vote, 21 points).

AJ McCarron (20 points) and Bryce Petty (12 points) rounded out the top five.

As he should be (Robert Smith).

It’s really nice to see that the voters are being patient and not condemning him before all of the facts are out. Well done!

    Friday morning in Columbus…

Luke Fickell: “Wow, it’s been 50 years since the JFK shooting.”

Urban Meyer: “Get Willie Meggs and Harvey Levin on the phone. I think I may know who was responsible.”

Unrelated to the Heisman race, that picture of Winston really looks like he just slammed his fingers in a door.

Glad to see this bizarre legal situation hasn’t had a negative impact on Winston’s Heisman chances. Let’s hope the matter is resolved long before the championship.

Gosh, I wish Manziel would drop on that list. Sorry … just don’t think anyone deserves it twice. And he’s annoying.

I live in florida and love the fact this kid is bringing FSU back. Its awesome to watch.

However, Manziel keep A&M in every game single handedly is more impressive given the siv of a D he has behind him.

Can anyone legitimately explain to me why no one else is allowed to have it twice outside of Archie? I mean he has had his shine for 28 years now.

Archie didn’t deserve to get it twice, either.

Lol @ everyone saying they hope his legal issues don’t persuade voters… Probably the same people that hold Johnny’s twitter account and underage drinking against him.. Hypocrites..

FSU has a complete team this year. A few of the best safeties in college football. Defense is top notch, and they have a very very talented young man from Hueytown ALABAMA that has done a remarkable job with outstanding poise to bring them to the top of the rankings…

I congradulate FSU and its fan base and hope to see BAMA and FSU in the National Championship Game in January. Winston and McCarron are my favorites for the Stiff Arm Award…

    Roll Tide…….

    @txstatebobcats1868 …

Could care less if Johnny Football drinks or tweets nonsense. And I believe players should be able to sell their own autographs … not that he did. Find his on-field behavior annoying. But for me, it really is about not believing any player should get it twice. Anthony Davis was robbed.

The award should be given to the player which meets the Heisman’s own criteria for winning. From there website here it is:

“The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman Trophy Trust ensures the continuation and integrity of this award.”

Excellence with INTEGRITY!!! In my opinion that eliminates two of the top four, end of story. Those are the rules, that is the criteria.
