Utah QB Travis Wilson out for season, career in doubt

Some scary stuff out of Salt Lake City: Utah quarterback Travis Wilson suffered a concussion Saturday against Arizona State and is out for the season but his career could be in jeopardy, too.

The Salt Lake Tribune’s Lya Wodraska has the details — a pre-existing condition was found during neurological testing following Wilson’s concussion, and while nothing has been determined yet coach Kyle Whittingham said it could be career-ending.

Wilson, a sophomore, completed 133 of 237 passes for 1,827 yards with 16 touchdowns and 16 interceptions for the Utes this year. Former walk-on Adam Shulz will start in his place for the 4-6 Utes.

That’s a scary thing to find. Better to err on the side of safety and call it a career.

@msw11, he didn’t play this week, the injury was the week before.

    Horrible news. Just horrible.

On the football front, he was inconsistent (so many INTs), and Schulz looked pretty good for most of the game against Oregon. They might not be worse off with Schulz.

But that hardly seems to matter when you hear news like this. At least glad they found it before something terrible happened.
