Unfortunately, yet another player at a major college football program has found himself embroiled in an incident involving the words “sexual” and “assault.” This time, however, there’s actually been an arrest made.
In a press release sent out by the university Tuesday afternoon, it was confirmed that UCLA offensive lineman Torian White has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. The release stated that White was arrested at around 3 a.m. local time today at an off-campus apartment complex after police officers responded to a disturbance.
No other details have been released at this time.
“We are aware of the situation involving Torian White, and we take these accusations very seriously,” coach Jim Mora said in a statement. “Torian has been suspended from the team indefinitely while the legal process and student discipline process run their course. Due to the ongoing police investigation, we are unable to discuss this matter further at this time.”
After starting all 14 games as a redshirt freshman last season, White started the first five games this season before suffering a broken ankle in early October. The left tackle has not played since the injury.
