Texas wide receiver Daje Johnson will not play in next week’s Thanksgiving game against Texas Tech. Johnson has been suspended for a violation of team rules, head coach Mack Brown announced Thursday. According to a report by Houston Chronicle, fullback Chet Moss has also been suspended for the game.

The reason for the suspension was not explained beyond the typical violation of team rules most teams blanketĀ suspension news with. Johnson has been suspended by Texas before though, missing the 2012 opener against Wyoming. Johnson’s suspension leaves the Longhorns without one of their top playmakers on offense. Johnson has just 121 rushing yards and 168 receiving yards this year, but he has also had an impact on special teams and has the ability to breakĀ a big play at any time.

Texas is off this week and returns to play Texas Tech next Thursday night, on Thanksgiving.

Maybe Mack should have suspended himself. He needs all the help he can get to finish his career at Texas.

Let me see … could it have anything to do with Wacky Weed?
