Sun Devils announce 2015 game vs. A&M in Houston

A member of the Pac-12 has agreed to a future “neutral site” game against a member of the SEC, the school announced Friday afternoon.

Arizona State has confirmed that it has reached an agreement with Texas A&M to play in the 2015 AdvoCare Texas Kickoff game. The game is scheduled for Sept. 5 and will be played at Houston’s Reliant Stadium.

The Sun Devils played a non-conference neutral site game in Texas (Arlington) against Notre Dame earlier this year as well as scheduling a future home-and-home against UT-San Antonio, signaling a desire by the program to make inroads in the fertile recruiting fields of the state.

“We are excited to participate in this unique college football event in the state of Texas against an SEC opponent in Texas A&M,” said current ASU and future Texas athletic director Steve Patterson in a statement. “Our fans and alumni experienced a fabulous time in Dallas with the Notre Dame game at AT&T Stadium earlier this year and we are excited to provide another similar opportunity for our fans, alumni and student-athletes. Todd Graham and his coaching staff recruit the state of Texas and this can only serve to enhance that effort.”

The 2015 game will mark the first-ever meeting between the Sun Devils and Aggies.
