Fresno State knows what they need to do in order to play in their first BCS game in program history. Win, and win big to keep ahead of Northern Illinois and maintain position in the BCS standings. So far, so good against New Mexico. At the half, Fresno State leads New Mexico 35-0.

Derek Carr has already passed for 309 yards and three touchdowns, completing 17 of 21 pass attempts for another big day through the air.Receivers Davanta Adams and Isaiah Burse each have eclipsed the century mark in receiving yards and Josh Harper may be on his way with 79 receiving yards. Fresno State’s offense has combined for 418 yards to out-gain New Mexico, 418-155.

Fresno StateĀ held the football for just 9:27 and still managed to explode for big yards against New Mexico. If Fresno State and Northern Illinois are racing to a BCS bowl spot, the Bulldogs still look to have a lead in the race.

If Fresno State gets in a BCS Bowl it will be a total waste of a BCS bowl game and will be VERY poorly watched. When teams from conferences like the Mountain West play in major bowl games when they are ranked 15th and haven’t played anyone that’s ranked it’s a waste of a bowl game that could have had a good team playing instead of a glorified community college.

@agboss – Thank you for your wise advice. I wasn’t planning on watching Fresno State in what ever bowl game they play in anyway. It now looks like they won’t play in a BCS game which most of the college football world is happy about. Now go do your middle school homework and get ready for school tomorrow.
