Airlifted after being injured, Miami’s Ladarius Gunter released from hospital

There was good news coming out of what was initially a very scary scene in South Florida Saturday.

Late in the fourth quarter of Miami’s win over, Miami cornerback Ladarius Gunter was involved in a violent goal-line collision with a pair of Hoos. After being immobilized on a backboard, Gunter was airlifted to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Fortunately for all involved, the evaluation appears to be a huge thumbs up. The Hurricanes announced Saturday night that Gunter suffered what is only being labeled as an upper-extremity injury, but that he had been released from the hospital.

“He will be able to play football again this season once he is fully healed,” the statement from the school read.

The word coming out of the Miami area is that Gunter suffered a neck injury specifically. Whether he will be available for the regular-season finale and/or the bowl game will be determined at a later date.
