Moving into the Associated Press Top Five for the first time in five years Oct. 20, Missouri dropped out a week later with a double-overtime loss to South Carolina. Four weeks later, they’re back.
Thanks to a pair of losses by Top-Five teams in Week 13, Mizzou has moved back into the Top Five at No. 5, leapfrogging Clemson in the process. Baylor, which had moved to No. 3 last week, dropped six to No. 9. Oregon tumbled even further, falling all the way from to No. 12 after entering the weekend No. 5.
The Tigers are one of three SEC teams in the Top Five, including, obviously, No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Auburn. Those two teams will meet in the Iron Bowl Saturday, with the winner representing the West against either Mizzou or South Carolina in the SEC championship game. The Tigers will claim the East with a win over Texas A&M.
Ohio State, on the verge of being passed in the BCS rankings by Baylor, instead moved back to No. 3 in the latest AP Top 25. The “other” OSU. Oklahoma State, moved up four to No. 7 thanks to its dominating win over the Bears.
The remainder of the Top 10 consists of No. 6 Clemson (up one), No. 8 Stanford (up two) and No. 10 South Carolina (up two).
Arizona State, thanks its win over then-No. 14 UCLA, shot up six positions to No. 13. Texas A&M took the biggest hit of those that remained inside the Top 25, going from No. 9 to No. 19 after getting throttled by LSU.
Ole Miss (No. 24) was the only team that dropped out, replaced by No. 25 Notre Dame.
