Just as the “Days Without An Arrest” ticker had inched its way into double digits, a member of the Iowa State football program has come along to reset it.
According to the Des Moines Register, linebacker Anthony Lazard was arrested Sunday and charged with operating (a vehicle) while intoxicated. Monday morning, the Story County Sheriff office’s website had Lazard listed as an inmate with a total bond amount of $1,000.
No details were available as to what led to the arrest, and the school hasn’t stated what if any punishment Lazard may be facing.
Lazard is a walk-on freshman who has yet to play in a game this season. More importantly, he’s the older brother of touted Iowa high school prospect Allen Lazard. The younger Lazard is a four-star prospect, rated by Rivals.com as the No. 5 wide receiver in the 2014 recruiting class.
He committed to the Cyclones early last December, although there’s concern he could be flipped by Notre Dame before National Signing Day this February.
