New faces litter Bovada Heisman odds

Braxton Miller AP

Thanks to a healthy number of developments that transpired in Week 13, a whole gaggle — or slew, if you will — of players have been brought into the betting side of the Heisman discussion.

In the latest set of Heisman odds released by Bovada.lv, a whopping four players have been added to the website’s stiff-armed board, three of whom haven’t been listed all season.  Additionally, one player who had put himself squarely into the mix has been removed while another has dropped considerably.

Braxton Miller, who entered the 2013 season as Bovada‘s Heisman favorite, has returned at 15/1.  The Ohio State quarterback had been off the board since an injury cost him a pair of games in the middle of September.  Joining Miller at 15/1 is record-setting Boston College running back Andre Williams, who is comfortably leading the nation in rushing and had previously been off Bovada’s Heisman radar.

Williams is the only non-quarterback listed.

The two other new entrants are (shock!) a pair of quarterbacks: Fresno State’s Derek Carr (20/1) and Northern Illinois’ Jordan Lynch (28/1).

Florida State’s Jameis Winston, as expected, continues to be Bovada‘s favorite at 1/2 this week, although he’s down from 4/11 in large part because of the off-field controversy that continues to swirl around him.  Alabama’s AJ McCarron‘s odds have skyrocketed thanks to others around him stumbling, going from 13/2 a week ago to 2/1.

Johnny Manziel, who appeared poised to claim his second Heisman thanks to Winston’s issue, was one of those whose candidacies took a significant hit, going from 5/2 to 20/1 following what was arguably the worst performance of his career as A&M’s quarterback.

Coming off the blowout loss to Oklahoma State, Baylor’s Bryce Petty, 10/1 a week ago, has been completed removed from Bovada‘s board.

If Miller can find his way back onto the list, how is it that Carlos Hyde can’t get some love?

Although I’m a nole and would be happy for jw5. I would give it to Andre2000. There is a reason BC was the only team that was able to hang around with FSU. While every other team gets destroyed.

2 of the most deserving players clearly aren’t listed – Aaron Donald from Pitt and Khalil Mack from Buffalo.

Unreal seasons both of those guys are having.

I agree, where is Hyde? He is a beast, If OSU makes the title game he will be a big factor, but lets not talk about that just yet

Andre Williams has 2,000+ yards and 16 TD’s and can’t get more than a token invite….

Antonio Andrews has 2,000+ total yards and 15 TD’s…

    Ka’deem Carey has 1,600+ yards and 17 TD’s….

    Sankey? 1,800+ and 18 TD’s…

Carlos Hyde has a little over 1,200 total yards and 16 total TD’s and you think him not getting an invite seems odd? Not really.

What happened to Mariota? Did he just ‘fall off the charts” since these ‘Newbies’ were added’? He was #4 last week

If this is truly awarded to the best player then Lynch & Williams should be no-brainer as finalists.

Raiderufan, it had to do with Miller finding his way back into the discussion, when I think Hyde is the source of Ohio States offensive success. I’m not even saying either of them belong on the list over guys at other programs.

Raiderufan, you should mention with the stats you posted that Hyde has only been apart of 8 games this season.

Awesome! He should have a great day against TSUN and make his statement against MSU! I doubt he’ll have a chance winning it but he should be in the conversation!
