Report: Bud Foster to interview for UConn vacancy

For years Bud Foster‘s name has been connected to various head-coaching vacancies, although the defensive coordinator has never pulled the trigger on leaving Virginia Tech for whatever reason.

While it remains to be seen whether he ever will actually leave Blacksburg, it appears he may be afforded yet another opportunity to do just that.

Pete Roussel of CoachingSearch.com reported Wednesday afternoon that Foster will interview for the vacancy at UConn. Just when the interview will take place and how viable of a candidate Foster is to become the permanent replacement for Paul Pasqualoni is unclear.

Foster, born in Kentucky and raised in Illinois, has spent the past 27 years with the Hokies, including the last 19 as coordinator. The past couple of years, he’s been connected to openings at Penn State, Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt.

Late last month, it was reported that former Arkansas and Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt had been making inquiries regarding the high school talent in the state. Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi is also expected to be a candidate for the Huskies job.
