Civil War a stalemate at the half, Oregon and Oregon State tied 17-17

Oregon has appeared vulnerable a couple of times this season, against Stanford and Arizona, and Oregon State has apparently been taking notes. The two rivals are tied 17-17 at the half after the BEavers overcame a rough start to come back to tie the game just before the break.

Oregon took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and looked to be ready to go on cruise control against Oregon State. An 80-yard touchdown drive was capped by a De’Anthony Thomas from five yards out midway through the first quarter. Before the end of the quarter the Ducks put together another long touchdown drive, this time with an 85-yard drive ending with a 13-yard Thomas Tyner run for the 14-0 lead.

A Storm Woods touchdown run got Oregon State on the scoreboard in the second quarter and then the two teams traded field goals before getting to the midway point of the game. Oregon State later took advantage of a second interception thrown by Oregon’s Marcus Mariota. Sean Mannion rolled left to find running back Terron Ward open for a game-tying touchdown late in the first half.

Oregon State has the momentum at the break and will need to avoid a sluggish start in the second half. Oregon State turned the football over twice in the first quarter but has responded well.
