When Notre Dame visits Stanford Saturday they will face the Pac 12 North champions without two safeties. Eilat Hardy and Elijah Shumate did not travel with the team for the regular season finale due to a violation of team rules, according to College Football Talk contributor JJ Stankevitz of CSN Chicago.
As noted, the depth concerns for Notre Dame will be somewhat significant against the Cardinal. Look for freshman Max Redfield and sophomore John Turner to take on an increased reserve role for Notre Dame. Fortunately for the Irish, Stanford’s passing offense is not the most lethal. Stanford ranks eighth in the Pac 12 in passing offense with Kevin Hogan completing 60.6 percent of his passes for 2,057 yards, 18 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
This is not the first time Hardy has been left home when Notre Dame hits the road. Earlier this season Hardy was left home for a road game at Purdue.
