UF’s Loucheiz Purifoy will reportedly make jump to NFL

As expected, Florida lost its season finale against Florida State. Just as expected, the Gators have lost one of its top defensive players to the professional ranks as well.

ESPN.com’s Joe Schad tweeted Saturday that, following the loss to the Seminoles, Loucheiz Purifoy told him that he will leave eligibility on the table and make himself available for the 2014 NFL draft. For what it’s worth, the football program has yet to confirm the cornerback’s impending departure.

This season, Purifoy intercepted a pair of passes, returning one for a touchdown. His seven pass breakups were tied for second on the team, while he added 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Purifoy started seven games this season and 19 in his career.
