Florida CB Loucheiz Purifoy declares for NFL draft

Florida cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy has decided to forego his final year of eligibility and declare for the NFL draft, the school announced on Monday.

Said Purifoy: “It’s best for me and my family to pursue a career in the NFL.”

The 6-foot-0, 190-pounder, last seen intercepting Jameis Winston this past Saturday, is viewed as a potential first-round pick according to some draft boards.

Purifoy had 102 tackles, 12 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three blocked kicks, two interceptions, two sacks and a fumble recovery in his 37-game Florida career.

Florida coach Will Muschamp said he supports Purifoy’s decision “100 percent.”

This not an unexpected move and, besides, the Gators’ issues are on offense, not defense. So UF should be able to absorb the loss of the talented corner.
