Notre Dame’s Louis Nix III also heading to the NFL

Notre Dame nose guard Louis Nix III has signed with an NFL agent, officially confirming his desire to forgo his final year of eligibility at Notre Dame in exchange for a shot at a first round NFL Draft pick in the spring.

According to The Chicago Tribune, Nix signed with agents Todd France and Brian Ayrault to represent him. Because he signed with an agent, or in this case two agents, Nix has officially forfeited his NCAA eligibility. Nix could have returned to the Irish for his fifth season, but his stock is as high as it may get, so the timing is right to move forward now.

Nix is a beefy and dominant force in the trenches who had to be double teamed at times this season. This season he still managed to record 59 tackles for a loss, including eight tackles for a loss in two separate games against Michigan and Arizona State. Scouts are high on Nix as a pro prospect, considering him a sure lock for the first round.

Nix is a perfect example of an ND man. I’m proud of what this kid has accomplished & wish him nothing but the best.

Yes I believes he graduates this month, a semester early

Nix will graduate in December & then go on to be a millionaire in the NFL.

I would draft him over Clowney. Big time 3-4 nose tackles are lies hit or miss then pass rushers.

Louis Nix reminds me a lot of New England Patriot defensive lineman Vince Wilfork. Nix will probably be better served in going to a team that plays a base 3-4 defense. Wherever he goes he will do well. You were a great Irishman Louis Nix. Best of luck and God Bless.

59 tackles for loss???? That’s basically five a game. What’s the record for that in one season? (yes, I know I could google that but i’m too lazy.).

I mean, considering that one of the responsibilities of NTs and DTs is to clog up the middle, take up blockers, and let other guys make the tackle, some of those guys don’t even have just 59 tackles in one season, let alone 59 for a loss.

Am I reading something wrong? Not doubting the stat because the guy IS a helluva player, that number just seems really high.

One of the more dominant NT in the draft. Perfect fit for Vikings who have been looking for a NT since Fat Pat Williams retired in 2010.
My only concern is his knees. Know he just had surgery for tendonitis in the knees and that is a chronic condition. For a 350lb man thats not good news.

That stat for TFL is so wrong it is unbelievable.
in 2013 in 8 games he had 2 TFL
in 2012 in 13 games he had 7.5 TFL
in 2011 in 13 games he had 4.5 TFL.

Where 59 TFL stat came from is beyond me.
Total tackles including solo and assist in 3 seasons he’s at 123 tackles

Congratulations Mr. Nix for earning your degree. I hope you do well in the NFL Draft, remain healthy your entire career, and earn a fortune. That degree will serve you very well long term.
