Badgers dismiss backup corner Jakarrie Washington

Ahead of its bowl game, Wisconsin has not only lost some depth in the secondary for the 2013 postseason but a player who was primed for a shot at significant playing time next year as well.

Over the weekend, UW head coach Gary Andersen confirmed that Jakarrie Washington has been dismissed from the football program. Other than the standard violation of unspecified team rules, no reason was given for the dismissal.

Early last month, Washington was suspended for the Iowa game because of the whole “team rules” thing.

A two-star member of the Badgers’ 2013 recruiting class, Washington played in 11 games his true freshman season. Washington was listed as the backup to starter and fellow freshman Sojourn Shelton on the depth chart released prior to the regular-season finale against Penn State.
