Auburn signs top JC recruit

Gua Malzahn AP

Junior college national signing day took place Wednesday and the big winner appears to be Auburn, which signed wide receiver D’haquille Williams, the No. 1-ranked JC recruit according to

Williams is a 6-foot-3, 200-pounder from Gulf Coast Community College who was at one time committed to LSU. He was offered by all the big boys of college football, including Alabama, Florida State, Texas and Texas A&M. Clearly, Auburn’s turn-around season under Gus Malzahn has made quite an impression on the talented athlete.

The incoming junior has quick feet for his size and is very good at catching jump balls in traffic. Have a look at the next wide out to be featured in the Auburn attack:

Nice! Just what we need for our offense next season (along with Tre Mason to come back).

Why are Auburn’s best players always JUCO transfers?

Check Auburn’s recruiting ranking over the last five years. Their is a ton of talent down there.

They’re not always Juco transfers. Cam Newton, Nick Fairly, and Nick Marshall were, but there’s plenty of other talent. Tre Mason, the entire OL, Sammie Coates, Dee Ford, Chris Davis, etc…all came to Auburn from high school.

Thankfully, only their last name goes on the back of the jersey. 😉
