I can’t nail this down, but there has to be some sort of connection here: Western Kentucky announced Wednesday the signing of junior college defensive back Wonderful Terry, a native of Fort Pierce, Fla.
He’s not the only Wonderful at the FBS level, though. In fact, he won’t even be the only Wonderful in his conference’s division next year.
Wonderful Terrific Monds II just wrapped up his junior season as a defensive end for Florida International, and his home: Fort Pierce, Fla.
A quick Google search reveals both players graduated in 2011 from Westwood High School in Fort Pierce. Monds is the son of former Atlanta Braves prospect Wonderful Terrific Monds, so that name stayed in the family. (Also of note, on Monds’ Rivals page a related player is listed as Godspower Offor, who now plays for Wake Forest)
A woman at Westwood High School wasn’t certain if the parents of Monds and Terry knew each other and decided to each name a son “Wonderful” or if this was just some amazing coincidence.
Thanks to conference realignment, Western Kentucky will join Conference USA’s Eastern Division next year, meaning they’ll face Florida International. The game will be, ahem, Wonderful.
