Former Cal lineman to transfer to Arizona

Freddie Tagaloa

Arizona some size to its future offensive line, with the additional heft coming at the expense of a conference rival.

The Arizona Daily Star is reporting that Freddie Tagaloa has decided to continue his collegiate playing career with the Wildcats.  Shortly after the 2013 season, Tagaloa announced he would be seeking a transfer from Cal.

The paper notes that Tagaloa could be forced to sit out the next two seasons because he’s transferring to another Pac-12 school.

Tagaloa, listed at 6-feet-8-inches and 330 pounds, will have to sit out the 2014 season and possibly the 2015 season as well. Since he is transferring from within the league, the lineman will have to appeal to just sit out a season if Cal coach Sonny Dykes does not approve the transfer.

After starting the first seven games of the 2013 season at left tackle, Tagaloa was moved to the guard position and didn’t start another game.
