South Carolina was dealt a blow Friday with the loss of one of the top receivers on the team. Damiere Byrd will miss South Carolina’s Capital One Bowl against Wisconsin after suffering a knee injury in practice this week.
According to South Carolina’s football office, Byrd will have to have arthroscopic surgery in the coming days, which leaves him out of action for some time, including the bowl game.
Byrd accounted for 575 receiving yards and four touchdowns for the Gamecocks this season. the school says the hope is that he will be able to return to the team in time for spring practices.
