South Carolina was dealt a blow Friday with the loss of one of the top receivers on the team. Damiere Byrd will miss South Carolina’s Capital One Bowl against Wisconsin after suffering a knee injury in practice this week.

According to South Carolina’s football office, Byrd will have to have arthroscopic surgery in the coming days, which leaves him out of action for some time, including the bowl game.

Byrd accounted for 575 receiving yards and four touchdowns for the Gamecocks this season. the school says the hope is that he will be able to return to the team in time for spring practices.

575 yards and is a top receiver? c’mon.

He is 2nd on the team in catches and yards and is also averaging over 17 yrds a catch. He stretched the field. Roland is gonna have to step it up.

Great, now during the annual bowl season exposing of the SEC’s mythical invincibility (one team winning the title does not speak for an entire conference, and SEC teams get unfair advantages to reach the title game anyway), at least South Carolina fans will have an excuse up their sleeve. At least it’s a better excuse than the SEC fan standard of “oh, even though our team lost they are still better – they just didn’t want to be there because it wasn’t a bigger bowl”. I guess if SC loses, their fans will just ride Auburn’s coat tails anyway and act like they won a national championship if Auburn beats FSU.

    Babyfag

Good name choice you sound just like a baby. First of all anyone using the loss of Damiere Byrd as an excuse if USC loses as blind as yourself. Also maybe you should wait until Wisconsin actually wins to start your little rant. Sorry we are from the conference that has won 7 national titles in a row. Which I guess according to you they were just given since they have such “unfair advantages to reach the title game anyway” Like beating the other best team in the nation is not enough. I do not think that the SEC is “invincible”. In fact I think that Wisconsin is going to be a very difficult opponent and South Carolina is going to have to play their best to have a chance to win. I do not go after other teams because of their conference or region, I just pull for my team. You however are just angry and spiteful which leads you to say ignorant things and look like a baby. Its probably because you have been reading ignorant people’s post like yours who have different points of view.

Have a good day and GO COCKS!

No not really, I don’t know any USC fans that will ride any coat tails. As long as we continue to get better every year you won’t hear too many complaints. Aside from the fact we got shafted on the bowl game this year. One win away from the SEC title game and we can’t get a BCS bowl? We destroy clemson, again and they get one? They aren’t even a top ten team how in the world does that work.

Wootang, calling me “babyfag” then ending his post with “GO COCKS!” The irony… And stop taking credit for the titles, SC certainly didn’t win any of them.

Oh you got me good baby Cocks penis haha never heard that one. Not taking credit for the sec titles. And go ahead and act like your fat white ass knows anything about football.

It’s probably because the gamecocks have a terrible fan base. Most of them think that football just started being played 5 years ago while the rest are all super classy guys like wootang which for some reason don’t have large venues clamp ring for their attendance.

I just moved to sc 4 years ago and admittedly I don’t know too much about USC sports prior to that. I came here from the land college football forgot, Boston. From what I understand up until 5 years ago the cocks didn’t have much to celebrate; however, they certainly do now. They have earned some bragging rites dragging themselves from the cellar to potentially, key word potentially, challenging for a national championship soon. At the very least making into the upcoming playoff format. The play in the toughest conference, play a pretty tough schedule and have three very successful past seasons along with 5 in a row over their arch nemesis. That’s reason to celebrate if you ask me.

Those dirt peckers are slow to pick up on thinks
except that they are in the SEC. That is their crutch.

Unfortunate news about Byrd. He’ll be missed for sure, but I think we’ll be okay without him as the Cocks take it to that Badger a$s on New Year’s Day. I’d love to see a good old fashioned wood shed whooping.

Also – good luck against the Suckeye’s, Jack!

@ whatever your name is that begins with a “b”

With any luck, your conference will be decent again one day, son. Until then, feel free to vent your frustration. Hell, eat some more cheese while you run your snowblower. Maybe that will make you feel better.
