Report: Florida meets with Duke offensive coordinator Kurt Roper

According to multiple reports (and as first reported by Coaching Search’s Pete Roussel), Florida coach Will Muschamp is meeting with Duke offensive coordinator Kurt Roper on Monday morning.

Florida is in desperate need of a quality offensive coordinator after its attack languished under Brent Pease in 2013’s 4-8 debacle. Roper, a Broyles Award finalist this year, has a reputation of developing quarterbacks -- which, it would seem, is exactly what Florida needs going forward.

Roper has served as David Cutcliffe’s offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach/assistant head coach at Duke since 2008. He’s coached with Cutcliffe for quite some time, going back to the pair’s days at Ole Miss when Roper nurtured the growth of Eli Manning in Oxford. Roper also spent time at Kentucky (quarterbacks, 2005) and Tennessee (running backs, 2006-2007) before heading to Duke.

Correction: The article originally stated Florida had interviewed Kerwin Bell, when that interview took place in 2011. The author apologizes for the error.
