UGA QB may be next SEC player to transfer to Jax State

Monday brought word that Alabama’s LaMichael Fanning was leaving the Tide and likely headed to Jacksonville State.

That same day, speculation began to surface regarding another SEC player likely headed to that FCS program.

Georgia quarterback Christian LeMay, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported, has told several teammates that he’s leaving the program, although UGA officials have yet to publicly comment on his status. LeMay plans on remaining with the Bulldogs through the Gator Bowl before moving on.

Rumors of a departure from Georgia began to percolate in earnest when he missed a pair of practices last week.

LeMay was a high-profile recruit nearly three years ago who, due in large part to the presence of Aaron Murray, was never able to even remotely tap into his potential.

A four-star member of UGA’s 2011 recruiting class, LeMay was rated by Rivals.com as the No. 4 pro-style quarterback in the country. He played in just five games and attempted two passes, all of which came in 2012.

Another UGA player, safety Shaquille Fluker, is also expected to transfer to Jacksonville State.
