Cal corner Kameron Jackson tweets he’s taking early NFL leap

As the deadline for eligible players to make the early jump to the NFL fast approaches, a player from a Pac-12 program has (surprisingly) pulled the trigger on a pro career.

In a tweet posted to his Twitter account Tuesday, cornerback Kameron Jackson announced that he would be leaving Cal and making himself available for the May NFL draft.

“Did a lot of thinking over these past couple weeks. My mind is made up! I’ve decided to declare for the 2014 NFL Draft,” the junior wrote.

Jackson did not even earn honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors in 2013... or 2012... or 2011. The junior, who’s listed at 5-9, 175-pounds on the Bears’ official website, did have three interceptions in a game his true freshman season, so there’s that.
