Red Raiders, Sun Devils in talks on future series

In five days, Arizona State and Texas Tech will square off in the Holiday Bowl.

If reports are accurate, it won’t be the last time the two teams face each other in nonconference action.

According to a Lubbock radio station, the Red Raiders and Sun Devils are “in the process of finalizing a two-year, home-and-home, non-conference series.” The talks between the programs have centered around dates in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Publicly revealing the home-and-home series is not in the immediate offing as the SportsRadio 1340 The Fan website writes that "[o]fficials from both schools are expected to formally announce the agreement in 2014.”

The two programs have met just once previously, with that coming in September of 1999. Talks on the future series began prior to the Holiday Bowl game being announced.

The also move comes as Texas native and ASU head coach Todd Graham looks to get more exposure for his program in the recruiting-rich fields of his home state.
