Boise State’s leading pass rusher Demarcus Lawrence entering NFL Draft

The Boise State program is going to be in quite a year of transition it seems heading in to 2014. The Broncos will be doing so without one of their top defensive players returning for another season. Defensive end Demarcus Lawrence will skip his final year with the Broncos and head to the NFL.

According to Joe Schad of ESPN.com, via Twitter, Lawrence has made the decision to enter the NFL Draft in 2014. Lawrence led the Mountain West Conference with 20.5 tackles for a loss, tied with Colorado State’s senior linebacker Shaquil Barrett, to put him in the same company as Pittsburgh’s Aaron Donald. Lawrence recorded 72 tackles this season, including 39 solo tackles and 10.5 sacks. Lawrence also forced three fumbles for Boise State.

Boise State had redshirt junior Beau Martin and redshirt freshman Sam McCaskill sitting behind Lawrence on th depth chart for Boise State’s Hawaii Bowl match-up against Oregon State. If Martin is coming back for one more season he would be the likely replacement heading in to spring football in Boise.
